The “New” Church of La Roca Ministries – Opening Day

What we believe on when and why should one be Baptized!

It is clear from the bible, that the people first “repented” of their sins and believed in Jesus Christ! So of course one must first be a believer to be baptized! And as John the Baptist’s total then that came to be baptized, “therefore bear fruit worthy of repentance”

We get baptized because 1st. Christ commanded it. He instructed His disciples to: “to go to all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching then to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-29)

It’s a pattern that we follow by New Testament believers. “…many of the Corinthians who heard him believed and were baptized.” (Act 18:8 – Acts 2:37-38 and Acts 8:12-13″). It shows our loyalty and obedience to Christ and His Word. ” We know that we have come to know Him, if we obey His commands.” (1 John 2:3)  Baptism is a public confession of our new life in Christ and a sign of our obedience to His word.

The people who heard Peter”s Pentecost sermon asked, “Brothers, what shall we do?” He answered , “repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins…  (Acts 2:37-38)  We also follow the example of our Lord Jesus Christ, He was baptized as an adult at 30 years of age. So we do not baptize infants but those who are of age who can understand the good news of the Gospel.

We then believe that there is no reason for delay, as soon as a person repents and believes in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, can and should be baptized!
