June 2020 Newsletter
The La Roca Team sends you all greetings!
I want to give you all thanks for standing by our side in this trying time!
We have lost about 80% of our monthly income from Mexico and over month ago we had a couple weeks that our donations from the US were down to almost nothing!
I said to myself, ok Lord, here we go for this crazy dive! But if we have to go down to our last cent, so be it! I was confident God was going to provide as He has done so many times. He did and has!
Jesus has been faithful in every way! Thanks to the God the Father for all who have stepped up to the plate. You have made up the difference with generous gifts and prayers! Thank you for being there, allowing God to work through you!
Updates!
The shelter is partially open for the men to go back to work or appointments as needed! We are not yet receiving new men unless they have in their possession a non-contagious medical certificate! This will help protect our senior citizens and those who still don’t feel confident to going out! We will slowly start receiving some funds from those who have started working, but it is till nowhere near what was 4 months ago! Remember, we went from 180 men to 78. Out of our current 78, 30 have started working!
The shelter is still a very difficult decision. When do we open up completely and still protect those who have stayed in lockdown these several months? So please keep us in your prayers for wisdom and discernment regarding all these related decisions still in front of us! Thanks for your prayers, they have been heard from our heavenly Father!
The Orphanage.
It was exciting to open the orphanage to La Roca staff only! We used Omar’s 17th, birthday to celebrate this occasion with great joy!
It was full of fun and celebration! During this time of isolation, the youth formed their own worship team! We enjoyed seeing them in action for the first time since lockdown! They did a great job! We all played volleyball and then enjoyed great food together! But the most exciting part was being able to embrace the beautiful children and fellowship with the older kids! All I can say, we missed them so much! They being so close yet so far at the same time! Again thanks for your prayers!
Once again I want to acknowledge the awesome job our staff have done! Keeping our kids busy with projects, music, sports and crafts! Job well done! We are so proud of each one of them!
We are also waiting to receive two new children, a 7 year old boy and an 8 year old girl! We are excited and anxious to receive these two beautiful children, with open arms!
The Ranch.
The men are very busy with clearing out the bush off of the property! With all the rain we have had there so much bush it has become a hazard during fire season! So we are trying to keep up with new growth and keep the property safe! The youth have done their part as well, clearing the side of the mountain and painted the sign saying: Jesus is the Roca!
We opened the doors to receive new men for our recovery program! The men are required to comply with three weeks of observation!
Giving them the time to heal from their withdraws and getting cleaned up before moving into the other dorm. For those are in the first step!
We also opened up the ranch to ministry members and staff! We went to the ranch after a Sunday church service and played volleyball and had great food! The fellowship was the center focus! God is good! Again thanks for your prayers!
Sonora.
It’s still in lockdown and no outsiders are allowed in at this time! Pray with us that this changes soon so we can send our missionaries in and continue working! Meanwhile we are working with those in great need, which are the elderly and families!
The dump.
Well not much has changed! The dump never closes, for anybody or anything! People are working there recycli ng as normal, day and night! This is a place that never stops! Our staff is doing a great job there, keeping the pace!
We are excited with what is ahead of us! We know this year is going to end with a big bang and a breakthrough!
So my dear brothers and sisters, let’s keep our focus on the task God places before us! The Coronavirus is only a speed bump on the road!
But now we are excited to see what our God and Savior Jesus Christ is going to do! So keep up your faith, flight a good flight, let us be the salt and the light of the world! Amen!
So again we thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Love you all and hope to see many of you soon!
In His Love, Carlos – Rossy and the rest of La Roca team!
