Municipal Dump Ministry

When you think of the dump, what’s the first thing you think of? Garbage, right? Here in Mexico, the dump is full of waste, and people sort through the trash, looking for anything they can salvage, recycle, or eat. Many of these people work here because they have no paperwork, no identification, and thus no legal means of making a living. So these people work in the dump to survive. What makes matters worse is that they often have children with them.

While the parents are inside the dump working, the children are walking around in conditions we would never tolerate in the United States. Some of these children have never even been to school. Most of the time, they don’t know when or where their next meal is coming from. The dump is full of people without hope who have never known anything other than the dump. It’s a sad condition that should never be allowed. Yet it has been, and nobody has done anything about it.

\Well, here at La Roca Ministries, we refuse to let these people go unnoticed and unloved. We have planted a church within the dump, providing water, bible teaching, and hope 24/7 to the people around us. Even though many may see the people there as lower class and worthless, they are children of God. And so, we minister to them, letting them know that we have not forgotten them and, most importantly, that they have a heavenly father who loves them.
