May 2025 Newsletter

Greetings to all our friends and family,

This month we're excited to share a selection of stories and testimonies provided by several of our leaders across the ministry:

Philippe: From Addiction to Fatherhood

At La Roca Ministries, we see lives transformed every day — but sometimes there’s stories that shine with special hope. Philippe, one of our shelter leaders, shares how God has completely changed his life. Coming from a disordered life full of addictions, he now has the blessing of becoming a father not only to Deborah’s children but they’re also expecting a new addition:

“My wife is four months pregnant, and I see how great God's mercy and grace truly are. In my past life, I never got married, never had children. But in Christ, God gave me a new identity, a family, and now the opportunity to have a son of my own. So, I give thanks to God for His love, His grace, and His mercy. It’s short, but I hope it encourages you to trust in God. May God bless you all.”

Magdiel: New ministry frontiers in Chiapas

We’re excited to share a double blessing from our ministry work in southern Mexico. First, our missionaries Magdiel and Virginio serving in Tapachula, Chiapas, have together officially opened a temporary shelter. This is a major step in extending care for the homeless and migrants in the region:

“I thank God first for everything He has given me, and I’m also grateful to La Roca Ministries for continuing to support me in the work of our Lord Jesus Christ. We’ve now opened the temporary shelter here in Tapachula, Chiapas — and it’s all thanks to our God. We know that only God makes all things possible. Our role is simply to trust in Him completely and recognize that with God the Father, all things are possible.”

Additionally, God has opened the door for them to begin ministry in a Christian rehabilitation center nearby:

“A Christian rehabilitation center reached out for help ministering to people struggling with addiction and alcoholism. We visited, and for the glory and honor of God, we were able to connect with the residents, spend time with them, and establish a discipleship partnership.

We’re now sharing a discipleship program focused on the four pillars to help guide them into a clear, Christ-centered identity. These are miracles — God putting opportunities in our path so we can keep pressing forward. From this work, we believe God will raise up more laborers and servants for His work.”

Mary: New Life in Christ

From Mary, the leader of our House of Grace:

“Less than a month ago, one of our newest girls, Ashley — Natalia’s sister — made her confession of faith and received Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

We know that when God begins a work, He is faithful to complete it. So, we trust that He will continue transforming Ashley’s life, just as He has done for so many others here. This is one of the most beautiful things God has done in the house recently.”

Jesús: Hope in Sonora

From Pastor Jesús, who leads our work in the rural town of Tanques, and three other nearby villages in Sonora:

“One of Our churches, Árbol de Vida, is in a small village of about 25 families. It’s a community rooted in indigenous Mayo traditions and heavy idolatry. We have had the blessing to reach families and children — but in the past few weeks, more parents have begun attending too. The children are starting to bring their parents to church!

This is a significant blessing. We’ve been working with mainly kids for some time, but now their families are joining them to hear the Gospel.”

Pastor Jesús also shared a deeply moving story from our outreach in Los Tanques:

“Every week we deliver meals to elderly people in need. Last Tuesday, one of our brothers found an elderly man who had fallen and was lying on the ground. He helped him up, fed him, and ensured he was safe.

Sadly, that same man fell again a few days later — this time on a Saturday, when no one was there. He lay alone under the sun and passed away from dehydration. It broke our hearts.

But this tragedy reminds us why our ministry matters. We’ve found many elderly in similar conditions and, by God’s grace, have been able to help them. Please pray that we continue to be present — especially when it matters most.”
